Many people know they need a will, trust, or other important estate documents, but they often delay the process because it feels complex, overwhelming, or expensive. Our Estate Plan service is designed to simplify this crucial task. We partner with EncorEstate Plans, a secure and intuitive platform, to help you generate a complete suite of documents that reflect your wishes. We guide you through the process, giving you the peace of mind that comes from knowing your loved ones will be cared for and preventing potential legal and financial challenges in the future.
The Plan
What's Included: The Estate Plan is a complete set of professionally-prepared documents tailored to your specific situation and goals. Common documents may include:
-
Last Will and Testament: Ensures your assets and property are distributed according to your wishes.
-
Revocable Living Trust: Helps your estate avoid the complexities of probate and provides privacy.
-
Durable Power of Attorney for Finances: Designates a trusted person to manage your financial affairs if you are unable to do so.
-
Advance Healthcare Directive (Living Will & Healthcare Power of Attorney): Specifies your healthcare preferences and designates a person to make medical decisions for you.
The Process
How it Works: The Estate Plan process involves the following steps:
-
Agreement & Preparation: We'll begin by having you sign the estate planning agreement. You'll then receive a questionnaire to help you prepare for our meeting. You can use the questionnaire as a guide to understand the information we'll need, or fill it out and send it back to us ahead of time. Whatever works best for you.
-
Meeting & Submission: Once you're ready, we'll meet to go over your questions and confirm your wishes. We'll then submit your estate plan to EncorEstate Plans for the preparation of your legal documents.
-
Final Review & Signing: You'll receive a summary of your estate plan via email for you to review and confirm all the details. From there, you'll schedule time to sign and finalize your legal documents.
FAQs
How does your approach to estate planning differ from working with an attorney?
As a financial planner, we don't provide legal advice. Our role is to act as the facilitator of your estate plan, guiding you through the entire process and ensuring it aligns with your financial life. As part of that process, we partner with the highly-regarded EncorEstate Plans platform to create your legally sound documents. While attorneys are essential for complex legal matters, many people simply need a straightforward, legally sound plan that protects their family and assets. We specialize in providing that guidance.
Is your estate planning service right for me?
Our service is designed for common estate planning situations. If your needs go beyond a standard estate plan, such as assets over $15 million (individual) or $30 million (married), disinheritance of a child, or high-conflict family dynamics, it's best to consult with an attorney who specializes in those areas. Our goal is to ensure you receive the expert advice you need, even if it's from a different professional.
